A myriad of benefits from green tea

Green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant species. This drink originally came from China. Green tea can be served hot, cold, mixed with honey, or made into a sugar-free tea.

What is Green Tea?

In addition to the delicious taste, green tea has a high antioxidant content. Antioxidants themselves have a usefulness in the fight against free radicals that roam the body. Excess free radicals can damage and even kill the body's cells, which can cause premature aging, cancer, and other diseases.

The catechin compounds contained in green tea have multiple strengths than vitamin C and vitamin E in stopping oxidative damage to body cells. Green tea also contains vitamin B, folic acid, manganese, potassium, magnesium, and caffeine.

This is the Benefit for Health
The benefits of green tea in overcoming the disease have not been fully proven to be strong. However, there is no harm in consuming green tea regularly and in a normal portion. Some of the benefits of green tea suspected or estimated to be obtained by the body if diligent to consume them are :

-  Lowers high cholesterol and the risk of heart diseaseA study concluded that green tea is good for lowering bad cholesterol levels and able to raise good cholesterol levels. The results of another study suggest that polyphenols in green tea are likely to inhibit cholesterol from absorbing the intestine as well as help to get rid of it.

Several other studies have concluded that antioxidants in green tea have an effective chance of preventing the narrowing of blood vessels, especially in coronary artery disease.

- Fight against cancer cells
The researchers revealed that polyphenols have a role in helping kill cancer cells and stop cancer growth. In laboratory experiments and in animals, polyphenol content in green tea has been shown to reduce tumor growth.

For women, regular green tea may be able to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer. Unfortunately, further and thorough research is needed on the effects of green tea on cancer.

- Preventing diabetes
Green tea has been a blood sugar controller since time immemorial. Research involving animals proves that green tea may help prevent and slow the progression of type 1 diabetes. However, research is needed on humans and more thoroughly on this subject.

- Lose weightA clinical trial estimates that green tea is beneficial in burning fat and increasing body metabolism. The researchers pointed out the catechins contained green tea as the responsible party as the owner of the effect of burning body fat. But the study on this itself is still not significant and still needs further proof.

- Stabilize blood pressure
A study says that eating green tea is good for raising blood pressure levels. This is especially true for elderly people who have low blood pressure problems after eating. Unfortunately, research on this subject is still limited so the results are not necessarily valid.

- Protect the heart
Green tea is predicted to help protect the liver from damage caused toxic compounds that enter the body like alcohol. Meanwhile, studies involving mice, indicating that green tea is able to fight liver tumors.

Levels of catechins in green tea are also suspected to help cure hepatitis disease caused by viruses. Unfortunately, the amount of catechins required is very much while the levels in green tea are not known for sure and thus require further research.

Note : Noteworthy is not only one food or drink that can protect a person from various diseases. Although we get the benefits of green tea by drinking it every day, all will be in vain if our lifestyle remains bad. Therefore, do not depend completely on one type of diet, but keep watching for your diet, getting used to exercise, getting enough sleep, and managing your stress levels well.
